Your Warner Electric Pump Clutch is retained

using at least one retaining ring. (See Figure 1)

The design of these retaining rings require they

be installed correctly. Installing the rings incor-

rectly will result in catastrophic failure of the

clutch assembly. It is the responsibility of the

installer to assemble the retaining ring correctly.

1. Find the retaining ring and carefully inspect it

for the location of the bevel. (See Figure 2)

2. Now examine the clutch mounting surfaces

on the pump. There must be a corresponding

groove designed to accept the retaining

rings. The forward edge of the retaining ring

groove will have an inclined surface intended

to mate with the bevel on the retaining ring. If

installed correctly, the ring will fully engage

the groove on the pump and retain the clutch

as intended. (See Figure 3) If the ring is

installed incorrectly, the clutch component

will vibrate loose and cause interference with

mating components or complete separation

of the pump clutch from the pump.
